Simplon connects Brig in Valais with Domodossola in northern Italy. The Simplon region offers hikers a fantastic mountain panorama and an impressive Alpine flora. The hospice is still led today by the monks of St. Bernhard.
Even the Romans avoided the immense mass of the Gotthard. The Pass only gained significance around the year 1200, when the Schöllenen Ravine between Göschenen and Andermatt was developed. Today the Gotthard Pass is the most important North-South connection.
12 centuries of ceramic history, 7 centuries of glass production: the Ariana Museum documents both ceramic and glass production with over 20,000 exhibits from Switzerland, Europe, the Near East and Far East. The museum is located in a park on the banks of Lake Geneva.
