Gemmi – historic pass

The Gemmi Train climbs the steep Gemmi face to the wonderful mountain world of the Gemmi Region, which is famous for its rich traditions. The Gemmi Train was built in 1957 and has since then transported many a guest to an elevation of 2,350 meters.

Already the Romans trod this path from the main Valais valley to the north. The historic pass crossing unites Leukerbad with Kandersteg – without roads, instead mountain rail.

Parpan Rothorn – summit views

A viewpoint known long ago for ore mining –whereas today for far-reaching views. It could be as many as 1000 summits you get a glimpse of from here.

Lauchernalp – sunny terrace

The Lötschental has for a long time been the end of the world and so has remained wonderfully unspoiled. A mountain climbers' Eldorado opens up from the Lauchernalp onwards.

Above the treeline, on a terrace created by a glacier, you soon discover the sun-spoilt Alps of the Lötschen Valley: Krummenalp, Hockenalp, Lauchernalp, Weritzalp and Tellialp.
