The Way of St. James: Schwarzenburg-Fribourg

Top 100 Excursions – This pilgrimage does not always have to lead to Santiago de Compostela - an impressive section of the Way of St. James is the ViaJacobi, a five hour walk from Schwarzenburg to Fribourg. This stretch is considered the most exciting part of the Way of St. James in Switzerland and has been used by the Jakobspilger - the St. James pilgrims - since the Middle Ages.

This pilgrimage does not always have to lead to Santiago de Compostela – an impressive section of the Way of St. James is the ViaJacobi, a five hour walk from Schwarzenburg to Fribourg. This stretch is considered the most exciting part of the Way of St. James in Switzerland and has been used by the Jakobspilger - the St. James pilgrims - since the Middle Ages.

Admittedly, the prime seats in the 500 metre high wall seem to have been reserved for the ibex. Yet from high above on the ridge one looks down in amazement at this ancient show of nature.

Senda Ruinaulta: The Swiss Rhine Gorge Route

Top 100 Excursions – The view down into the depths is dizzyingly beautiful! The Vorderrhein has eaten 400 metres into the limestone cliffs of the Ruinaulta. Accompanied by the Rhaetian Railway, it winds its picturesque way through the canyon - this part of the route is particularly spectacular. The lookout platform "Il Spir" offers an impressive bird's eye view. The best way to get there is along the Senda Ruinaulta, an easy hike brimming with temptations.

Top class cuisine and spectacular landscapes - the road to the "Grand Canyon" of Switzerland is a pleasure in every respect.

Mont Tendre: From Mollendruz to Marchairuz

Top 100 Excursions – The Mont Tendre Trail takes 5 hours from Col du Mollendruz, ascending 500 metres to Mont Tendre and leading gently back down to Col du Marchairuz. It runs right through the middle of the Jura Vaudois Nature Reserve, which is with its 523 kilometres of marked trails especially popular with casual hikers.

At 1679 meters Mont Tendre is the highest peak in the Swiss Jura and offers the finest 360 degree panoramic vista. The Mont Tendre Trail takes 5 hours from Col du Mollendruz, ascending 500 metres to Mont Tendre and leading gently back down to Col du Marchairuz.
