Rochers-de-Naye – high above the lake

Historic Transportation – The prominent rocks of Rochers-de-Naye above Montreux constitute one of the most beautiful vantage points in the region. At 2,045 meters above sea level the view sweeps across Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps. Or into the burrows of marmots.

The rocks (les rochers) – towering 1650 meters above the town, are as much a part of Montreux as the Chillon Castle. Already back in 1892 the first small steam train made its way up to Rochers de Naye from Glion.

Rigi – Queen of mountains

Mountains – The Rigi trains can look back on an interesting history, which has already filled thick volumes. Niklaus Riggenbach, the inventor of the cogwheel train performed pioneering work. The train from Vitznau overcomes on a stretch of 6975 meters an elevation gain of 1313 meters. The train from Arth-Goldau conquers a height difference of 1234 meters on the 8551-meter ride.

Switzerland’s most visited scenic mountain is discovered in central Switzerland – towering between the three Lucerne Zug and Lauerzersee lakes.

San Salvatore – pinnacle of enjoyment

Excursions – Lugano's Sugarloaf Mountain, Monte San Salvatore: one reaches its peak comfortably via cable car, or one can take the most challenging fixed rope trail in Switzerland to the peak. There is a magnificent panoramic view at 912 meters above sea level.

Lugano’s home mountain and pinnacle of enjoyment - that’s San Salvatore! The striking mountain south of the town boasts 360° views over the lake and environs, far south and to the high Alps in the west.
