This walk starts in the heart of Geneva, passing through a particularly charming corner of the city on its way to the Rhone and out into the countryside. For long stretches it follows the river bank, which is home to over seventy animal species and is one of the best protected areas in Switzerland.
The network of trails around Zermatt runs rather high into the mountains. Yet they are all quickly conquered - cable cars carry hikers up to an altitude of 3000 metres in the blink of an eye. Or to Blauherd, where one of the most beautiful tours of the region starts at an altitude of 2500 metres.
