Following the Doubs: The Swiss Water Trail

France to one side and Switzerland to the other, with a river running through the middle: The Doubs. Its long, ruggedly picturesque valley is virtually uninhabited and being a nature reserve it is even more of a paradise for fishermen and hikers. The riverside path between Soubey and St. Ursanne opens up a truly original part of Switzerland. Through almost untouched riverscape, it runs past fish taverns and swimming areas.

15 kilometres of meditative hiking pleasure and one of Switzerland's most beautiful "water trails" run between Soubey and St-Ursanne.

Lake Lugano

Lake Lugano in Southern Switzerland reaches out its arms into Italy and is surrounded by numerous mountains offering panoramic views. Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, there are even citrus fruits and palm trees growing here. Take a boat ride to sample all that the region has to offer: charming little fishing villages, tourist attractions such as the “Swiss Miniature” Park and flower-filled parks.

Lake Lugano is at the southernmost tip of the Tessin, the holiday region south of the ridge of the Alps, and it reaches its arms out into Italy. Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, there are even citrus fruit trees growing here, and visitors can sunbathe under palm trees.

Andermatt - Urserntal

«Of all the places I know, this is the dearest and most interesting to me», declared Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, when he travelled through the Ursern valley three times in 1779. The Ursern valley (canton Uri) at the foot of the Gotthard Pass is one of the most impressive upland valleys in Switzerland. Andermatt (1440 m), the largest of the three villages in the valley, is at the crossroads of the mountain passes from north to south and from east to west.
