Sustainability

Switzerland - champion in sustainability!

It is well known, that the Swiss are particularly sustainable: A consistent recycling, rigid exhaust emissions standards, good waste management, carefully controlled landscape planning and strict conditions for construction projects is just part of our every day life.
Below you will find more examples of our daily effort for a respected environment and a sustainable future. Also, numerous environmentally conscious activities are possible in Switzerland (e.g. assisting with landscape projects, Segway and E-Bike tours etc.)

The sustainable stand

The SCIB was awarded in recognition of its widespread use of Swiss wood in its stand construction. The wood is a renewable resource and net remover of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. All promotional material used at the fairs are printed carbon-neutral. The stand also made the most of low energy lighting, minimal electricity and locally sourced organic food and beverages.
For IMEX all Switzerland Tourism staff, including the stand builders, travelled to Frankfurt by train to reduce carbon emissions. For the transport of materials, SCIB also used trucks booked via the “truck market” to avoid empty runs between Switzerland and Germany. All stand material and printed material was organised to require just one transport run.
