We are happy to inform you that we have been invited to hold the 2014 meeting at the Swiss National Library in Bern. The invitation arrived directly from the Director of the Library, Mrs. Marie-Christine Doffey, who offered the support and facilities of the library for our next annual meeting. Mr. Stefan Kwasnitza, whom many of you know, has kindly accepted the task of local coordinator on behalf of the library and is already working with your Steering Committee to plan for the meeting. This annual gathering is scheduled for 3 days: from Wednesday to Friday, 17-19 September, with a supplemental Swiss excursion tentatively planned for the following Saturday. We wish to alert you now so you can mark your calendars and make plans to participate in this important meeting. Details of the program will soon follow. This is very good news for several reasons. The Swiss National Library has excellent meeting amenities on the premises. We enjoyed their excellent facilities and benefited from "Swiss organization" in past meetings. The building itself is quite elegant with ample space and is conveniently located in the heart of the city. Switzerland represents a large contingency of VTLS libraries and this may very well encourage many of the librarians to become aware of the EMEA UG and gain their involvement. In planning for the meeting we ask you to think of ways you may wish to contribute. Many of your colleagues would like to hear about the various activities and initiatives at your library. Please come prepared to share these ideas both by means of scheduled presentations as well as informally during breaks and meals. We look forward to seeing you all there.
