Museum of History Lucerne
Energetic, thrilling, different - experience history

The museum is located in the ancient armoury of the canton of Lucerne and first opened in 1986. It is a unique adventure house with exhibitions, theatre tours, events and collections on the cultural history of Lucerne and Central Switzerland.

Professional actors take the visitors on tours through the stockroom, thereby giving them a behind the scenes experience. The stockroom tours take place four times a day and are included in the price of admission. They are written exclusively for the museum and are a permanent feature of the exhibit concept. Two new stockroom tours are developed every year.

The permanent exhibition is structured like a storage depot. The display space holds thousands of objects. Each object is labelled with a barcode and small scanner devices are used to gain access to the information. Visitors can choose between detailed descriptions of single objects, themed tours or quizzes.

Each year two bigger special exhibitions as well as two cabinet exhibitions are displayed. These exhibitions focus on current topics and build a bridge between the past and the present.

The central location, the special ambiance, the museum café and the event rooms with the latest technology make the museum an ideal place for unforgettable company or group events.
