Uri/Gotthard
Hint
Intro
This much-loved holiday destination on the Gotthard massif has a lot to offer. From the mild southern shores of Lake Urner and the picturesque villages - often under preservation order - or the romantically wild valleys, to the idyllic mountain lakes and the gleaming snow fields of the majestic mountains, many of them over 3,000 m high.
Winter
In Uri, also the winter shows itself at its best. The Urserntal with 13 installations and more than 74 kilometres of ski runs ranks among Switzerland’s most likely areas with snow guaranteed. Splendid slopes with powder snow, cross-country ski circuits and pistes for sleigh-rides can be found higher up in the Reusstal and its side valleys.
Summer
Manifold and varied is not only Uri’s landscape, but are also its leisure amenities and holiday offerings. The area around the Lake of Uri is a paradise for sportsmen and nature lovers. The «Swiss Path», which stretches over 35 kilometres round the Lake of Uri, has become a popular destination over the last years. The large number of cable railways, with which local people as well as tourists reach sunny hills, lookout points and summits in few minutes’ time, are also typical of Uri.
