Nowadays, a modern 841-meter-long wooden structure (with handrails) runs across the water parallel to the Seedamm, from Rapperswil past the "Heilig Hüsli" chapel on an islet and on to the Hurden peninsula.
After the hamlet of Hurden with its chapel and good lakeside restaurants comes the "Frauenwinkel" area with reedbeds of interest to natural historians.
From Pfäffikon, walkers continue along the hiking trail to Freienbach and across the Waldisberg with its vineyards on the southern slope. There are stunning views of Lake Zurich on the final section of the walk, along the superb beach path that leads from Bäch into Richterswil in Zurich canton.
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
