Description

Rapperswil - Holzsteg - Hurden - Pfäffikon - Freienbach - Richterswil

The wooden footbridge is an absolute highlight and is crossed right at the outset of your ramble. Numerous animals can be observed in the reed belt that skirts the shore zone. On the other side of the causeway you stroll though Freienbach , a village with the status of a tax haven. Befitting its importance, the parish hall of Freienbach is situated within a castle. Finally, wonderful views across Lake Zurich accompany the last section of the walk which leads from Bäch into Richterswil, which forms part of greater Zurich.

Taking the trail in the direction of Pfäffikon from Rapperswil station will bring you to the start of the 841-metre-long wooden footbridge. The views across the Obersee are stunning. From Pfäffikon, the route follows the walking trail towards Freienbach. Walking in the direction of Bäch will take you to a forest periphery. Turn off to the left here and then follow the path through the forest. The main road is reached after the railway tracks are crossed. The walk then follows this road for a good 2 km before a beautiful shore walk brings you back to Richterswil station.
