The hiking tour starts at the Preda Railway Station (1,789 meters). Here the ascent leads through picturesque larch forests toward Cuxiranch to the entrance of the imposing Val Zavretta. After hiking over Alp Zavretta (2,271 meters) Fuorcla Zavretta (2,901 meters) is reached. The last 100 meters uphill lead via the top edge to Piz Compass at 3,016 meters. Via the Fuorcla Zarvetta and past the impressive southwestern face of Piz Üertsch one reaches the Albula Pass after a four-hour hike. From here, the descent to Preda takes about another hour.
