The dark-restaurant blindekuh has been attracting thousands of thrilled guests from all over the region over the past five years. Thanks to our new event facility and the adjoining bar-lounge sicht-bar we can now offer yet more illuminative moments on a surface of over 200 square metres.

The blindekuh is all about developing new perceptions: Dining in the dark, one gets to know the true flavours of the ingredients. Likewise, cultural events in utter darkness make for a totally new experience for all our senses.

Since the beginning of 2010 our guests can also savour chat or celebrate in a lit environment. With its more than 200 square metres our new location is suitable for events with up to 240 persons.

The event room is situated immediately above the restaurant. 15 metres further aloft, the old glass roof of the former Sulzer-Burckhardt engine works remains a spectacular sight. With its industrial loft character, the new facility offers an exclusive urban ambiance with a hint of nostalgia.

The obscurely lit and oriental inspired bar-lounge sicht-bar is a further attraction that adds to our range of unusual experiences. Light is sometimes indispensable. Hence our guests are now free to discuss things over a drink in this partly lit lounge both before and after their experience in the dark.

The attractive facilities are equally suitable for private occasions as for business or cultural events. Naturally, the restaurant blindekuh and its exquisite cuisine by our head chef Enrico Behrendt can be hired as well.

The foundation blind-liecht who operates the blindekuh has been wishing to create a meeting place where the dialogue between blind, partially sighted and sighted people can be further eased in an unconstrained atmosphere. This is how the new bar and event business came about.

More than 30 blind and partially sighted people are currently working in the blindekuh in Zurich and Basel. This makes the blindekuh one of the major employers for partially sighted people in Switzerland.
