Au fil du Doubs
Overview
Intro
15 kilometres of meditative hiking pleasure and one of Switzerland's most beautiful "water trails" run between Soubey and St-Ursanne.
Description
At the Hotel du Cerf in Soubey, the starting point of this easy but lengthy hike, one theme reigns supreme - fish. And this does not only refer to the menu - the restaurant is also the "base camp" for fishing enthusiasts.
From there the trail follows the river further towards Tariche. Should you find yourself on the wrong side of the river here because you've crossed the Doubs back at La Charbonnière, have no fear. Just a wave and a shout, and the landlord is on his way with his boat to fetch his guests for lunch. And the speciality of the house? Why trout, of course!
Located close to the French border, this riverscape offers many a surprise with its wealth of flora and fauna, and its peacefulness is enchanting. The historic city centre of the little medieval town of St. Ursanne has changed very little over the centuries, with its 14th to 16th century townhouses recounting its history. The most famous sights are the monastery with its cloister and the Roman-Gothic collegiate church, both of which date back to the 12th century.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
