Lovers of scenic spots make their way to the terrace views above the Reuss Valley, Lake Lucerne and the Schächen Valley. And Weid, above the little Seelisberg lake, Ober and Unteraxen, Ruogig, Eggerbergli and Tristel on the Klausen Pass road are further names to investigate in the cableways guide.

The regularly maintained and controlled cableways - built in fact as vital connection to alpine farms – present ideal starting points for attractive highland hikes and mountain climbs.

Information

Altitude: 786 – 2961m
Accessibility:
Valley stations by bus, in part only reached on foot or by private car
Attention: At times solely small change or token use for non-timetable-dependant operation through users – with tokens available in restaurants and some private homes
View: Over mountain valleys as far as the Uri mountains such as Clariden, Windgällen, Rophaien, Bristen, Spannort and Uri Rotstock
Attractions: Trips in the open-top carriages sometimes need a little courage... but it’s worth it; and those who follow instructions provided face no danger as they glide through the air
Culinary aspects: Small catering establishments such as the Weid beizli, Alpstubli Selez, Biel-Kinzig, Spilau/Lidernenhütte, Gitschenen, Brüsti, Golzeren as well as one by the Arnisee lake
Overnight stays: Simple accommodation possibilities often provided in mountain homes
Groups: Small cableways are often limited in the amount of passengers they can convey per hour, for large groups we therefore recommend larger cable railways such as that of the Gemsstock (Andermatt)
Winter: Much of the mountain rail is in operation in winter
