Stockhorn – and striking Horn

Bernese Oberland

It’s not hard to pinpoint the distinctive head of rock at the entrance to the Bernese Oberland – but the fact that you can stand pretty much on top to enjoy views direction Thun, Aare Valley and Bern as far as Jura is known to few.

From the Simmen Valley behind, to give you a sense of direction, a cable car journeys in two sections over the Hinterstocken lake to the summit. And yes indeed: on the southside the snow-covered high Alps - and on the northside, through an easy pedestian tunnel, you arrive at the rocky vantage point to enjoy panoramic views over the Mittelland.

Keen fishers and relaxation seekers love the two lakes, hikers are keen to make their way over the Leiteren Pass trail to Gurnigel, or in fact come here from there!
