The Nature Park is characterized by landscape structures that run parallel to each other in a Southwest-Northeast direction. Forested areas alternate with long depressions, the so-called Combes. The forests grow on hard limestone subsoil, that has not been eroded much, while the pasture land in the Combes lies on soil that was able to form on softer, marlstone subsoil.
