Shopping and refueling at excellent prices - this is common knowledge in Samnaun. But the village in Switzerland's, Austria's and Italy's border triangle has much more to offer than duty-free goods. A fantastic mountain world embraces the village like a crown. The majestic Silvretta massif and the Engadine's Dolomites form an imposing backdrop. Up here, at 1,800 meters above sea level, marmots feel very much at home.

Hints

Samnaun-Dorf - Wasserfälle - Zeblasjoch - Viderjoch - Alp Trida - Samnaun Compatsch - Samnaun-Dorf

The tour to the Greitspitze starts at the exit of Samnaun-Dorf (village) and leads you on a forest trail into the valley of Val Masauna. Past Samnaun's waterfalls (which can be reached on a short walk off the main trail) the bike route gets steeper and steeper on the way to the Austrian border at Zeblasjoch, a ridge. From here the route runs past Paulinkopf up to the peak of Greitspitze. The trail continues to the outer ridge of Viderjoch. Here begins the long way down via the Trida Mountain, then down to Samnaun Compatsch and further on to Unteralp. Here the amazing Alpstein - one of Switzerland's largest rock fragmentations - can be admired. At Samnaun Compatsch the trail ascends slightly until you reach Samnaun-Dorf once more.

As a special service to mountain bikers, the Samnaun / Ischgl mountain trains transport mountain bikes free of charge on all installations!
