The cuckoo calls at just the right moment, not long after leaving Parking Lot 1 on the way to the Hotel Il Fuorn. On the "WebPark" GPS device, which can be rented from the National Park Centre in Zernez for 19 Swiss Franks, the first of ten virtual mountain guides appears and tells a story coordinated to match your exact location.

The children's curiosity is aroused, and the National Park becomes an "emotional park". The little ones find it exciting to listen and they page through the accompanying booklet, in which a CD with all the texts is included (for listening to again at home) as part of the package. Children can hardly wait until the cuckoo announces the next virtual host – perhaps Marmotin the marmot, or Tumasch the red deer, or Tina the chamois.

The wonderfully simple and beautiful hike includes crossing "the long meadow" (Champlönch) to Alp Grimmels, zigzagging down to the Ova da Val Ftur and then running comfortably along the slopes of Piz dal Fuorn.

The short tour ends in the romantic Hotel Il Fuorn, in former times a favourite stopover for travellers, mule trains and smugglers and today a kind of base camp for visitors to the National Park. It is still the only hotel in the 100 year old nature reserve.
