ViaJacobi
Overview
Intro
Wide open landscapes with peaceful villages define the stretch of country between the cities of Fribourg and Romont. The river Glâne flows through this idyllic region, which is named after the river. Along this route you will every so often encounter evidence of the passage of pilgrims in the past. The bridge at Ste-Apolline with its chapel was, for example, used by pilgrims centuries ago. Or the Auberge de la Croix d'Or in Posat, which served as a resting place as early as the late Middle Ages.

Description
This long hike begins in the outer quarters of the city of Freiburg. You will be safely guided through the hustle and bustle on the streets, if you always follow the brown signposts of Jakobsweg (St. James Path). After a little over an hour you will reach the medieval bridge at Ste-Apolline, the first highlight of the tour. A step-by-step ascent leads up to the plateau of Ecuvillens. The landscape opens up to reveal fantastic views. The spectacular panoramic view of the Freiburg Alps captivates time and again. In Posat the path descends again to the wild, pristine valley of Glâne. On the other side of the river Glâne there is a long passage nearly devoid of shade, which takes you past the villages of Autigny and Chavannes. Then, after more than 6 hours of hiking, the city of Romont appears on a hill.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
