Start of the hike is by the mountain station of the Riggisalp chairlift – and on from here via Salzmatt to the notorious Kaiseregg. The approximately 700-meter climb in altitude requires a pretty good level of fitness and certainly being foot-sure to top it! Once at the top all efforts are duly rewarded with fantastic views of both the Bernese and Valais Alps. The way back down is again via Alp Salzmatt. From here you head for the valley station of Kaiseregg mountain rail and finally back down to your starting point by Lake Schwarz.
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
