International luxury travel network, Virtuoso®, celebrated the close of its annual conference, Virtuoso Travel Week, last week with its annual gala. Earlier in the week, at the Destination Showcase Dinner at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Switzerland Tourism was recognized as the winner of the Virtuoso Tourism Board of the Year Award. There were a total of six nominees for the award, which included the Tourism Boards of Mexico, South Africa and New Zealand. The award was presented only the second time after the Tourism Board of Mexico won it in 2012.

“Our organization comprises some of the top professionals in this industry, and these awards recognize the companies and individuals, such as Switzerland Tourism, who embody Virtuoso’s values as well as top performers who make this network so successful,” said Virtuoso Chairman and CEO, Matthew D. Upchurch, CTC. “We honor Switzerland Tourism as a leader, having been awarded Tourism Board of the Year in recognition of the organization’s team’s talents and contribution.”

“The Virtuoso Tourism Board of the Year Award is a true honor because it means being recognized first and foremost by Virtuoso travel advisors,” said Alex Herrmann, Director Americas of Switzerland Tourism. “It’s an acknowledgement that we hold high, and I am very pleased to share this recognition with my team.”
