Description

Ambitious hikers will want to try their hand at this long distance hike called "Hintere Gasse" (backstreets) connecting Meiringen to Gsteig via Grosse and Kleine Scheidegg, Sefinenfurge, Hohtürli, Bonderchrinde, Hahnenmoos Pass, Trütlisberg Pass and Chrine. The hike lasts about eight days and one has the choice of staying in Swiss Alpine Club mountain huts, in mountain inns or in luxury hotels in the respective villages. The route is called its name because it runs between the first prealpine chain and the high alpine mountains. On one side one looks down on green hills, mountain forests, and alpine pastures, on the other side, one can admire eternal snow and ice and craggy preaks.
The Swiss outdoors company Eurotrek offers a 6-day arrangement under the name "Bear Trek". Tel. +41 (0)1 295 55 55
How to get there:
Drive or take public transportation to Meiringen either from Interlaken or from Luzern. Return by public transportation from Gsteig to Bern or Montreux via Gstaad.

The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
