Moorland Trail

UNESCO Biosphere, Entlebuch

Barren high moors, flowery low moor bogs and a primeval moorland delight the senses! Moors - as far as the eye can see and your feet will carry you. Nowhere else in Switzerland are there so many nationally protected moors in such a small area as in the Entlebuch.

Description

This moorland trail is a long footpath (five day stages) and leads over 80 km through this fascinating landscape. Markers along the route indicate the corresponding points in the accompanying brochure and point out some exciting experiences. These are designed in an informative and interactive way.

Various accommodation options
A great variety of accommodation options to suit every budget and taste are available along the Moorland Trail. Whether simple and rustic with sleeping in straw or a dormitory at an Alpine establishment, romantic in a room in an old farmhouse or sophisticated in a hotel - the guest is king and rules. Details are available in the Moorland Trail brochure.

Laubersmadghack
The Laubersmadghack, an upland moor between Kemmeriboden Bad and Sörenberg (near Salwideli) is a habitat of national importance, with typical sphagnum moss forests of Scots pine and spruce. Included in the Ramsar list of wetlands of special importance, it is one of the finest upland moor areas of the Englebuch biosphere (only accessible at the edges).
