You have barely walked half an hour before finding yourself in the middle of spectacular Jura scenery. Nothing breaks the silence from all directions. Higher up, the scene changes. The vegetation round the mighty domed peak of La Dôle is almost alpine, with buttercups and wild gentians as far as the eye can see.

Description

The views from the summit are simply stunning. You can see Lake Geneva in all its grandeur. To the west you can make out the city of Geneva and to the south Mont Blanc on the horizon. The descent is long and wooded, but rarely steep.

St-Cergue - Col du Vuarne - Col de Porte - La Dôle - Chalet de la Dôle - Borex

The climb from St-Cergue up to the Col du Vuarne is through lush green Jura meadows, dotted with typical pine trees, while the area around the summit of La Dôle is more alpine in character. From the Col du Vuarne the route takes you via the Col de Porte to the top and down on the other side to the Chalet de la Dôle. As you continue down, the scenery is dominated by dense deciduous forests. The last section of the tour leads down through an expanse of meadows to Borex.
