Hike around Lake Sarnen
Overview
Intro
Nestled in the pre-Alpine landscape of Central Switzerland, Lake Sarnen is the perfect place for a leisurely hike. Sachseln and Giswil lie on the edge of the route. The hike starts and ends in the historic town of Sarnen.
Description
Sarnen – Sachseln – Giswil – Oberwilen – Wilen – Sarnen
For the first part of the hike, the trail follows the shores of Lake Sarnen as far as Giswil. From here it passes through the district of Grossteil and over the Steinibach River to the other side of the lake. The trail continues along the slope on the western shore of the lake until it eventually arrives back in Sarnen. The return journey along an elevated path treats you to magnificent views of Lake Sarnen below and of the surrounding mountains.
