Since the first half of the 13th century, settlers coming from the Valais moved in several waves eastward and reached the region of the Adula Park. Early documents, as well as settlements and buildings, testify to the influence of the Walser population. From these early master colonies they spread to neighboring valleys, from the Hinterrhein to Vals, as well as to regions in Graubünden and as far as Vorarlberg.
