For centuries, the spring at Schwefelbergalp has had an important role to play. In fact its first mention, in 1561, claims that it has long been used by bathers. The sulphur-rich spring owned by the hotel is at mountain Ochsen, a 20-minute uphill walk away. Several hundred litres of fresh, sulphurous water are conveyed to the hotel daily. It is said that drinking a glass of this water each day before meals is very good for the digestion.
