The magnificent dining room is furnished entirely in the style of Historicism. The elaborate wood paneling and wainscoting, as well as the murals and decorative paintings, date from 1884. The walls of the dining room depict salutations, cherubs and decorative art. Unique visuals focus on the pure mountain water that is a basic ingredient in beer brewing. The historic décor is complemented by attractive elements such as chandeliers, leaded glass windows or wrought iron pillars. The dining room was renovated in 1977 in cooperation with the canton’s historic preservation office, the municipality of Buchs, and the family that owns the restaurant.

In the hands of the Rohrer family, the “Traube“ became, for a century and a half, the focal point of Buch’s social life. During the latest renovations in 2007/08, the present owners and hosts placed special emphasis on preserving the authenticity of the historic property, while gently upgrading it. They were able to create a new atmosphere where not only past and present form a harmonious and elegant symbiosis, but where all strata of society meet – which in former times was not always a matter of course. To this day, the magnificent dining room is the focal point of the historic inn, which no longer offers accommodation.
