A general who enjoyed his soup
Already back in 1945, the «Hirschen» inn at Oberstammheim was a place of renown. On the occasion of an inspection tour on the 5th of March 1945 to Stein am Rhein, which had been heavily bombed by the German troops, General Guisan, the commander of the Swiss army, stopped for a break at the old-established restaurant in the Zurich wineland. His entry in the guest book proves it in black and white: the soup was (and still is) very tasty.
