Gruyères castle and village, Pays de Fribourg
The Fribourg Region is a concentration of what makes Switzerland special. The people speak both French and German in the streets, and have adopted the best of both cultures. In addition, this compact area is home to three completely different holiday regions, all waiting to be discovered: the Prealps, with their glorious bike trails, footpaths, and the picturesque small town of Gruyères; the medieval art-filled capital of Fribourg with its lively student atmosphere; and the Three Lakes Region with its Mediterranean style.

Along the panorama.

One of the most beautiful stretches of the Alpine Panorama Trail – which runs the length of the Swiss Prealps – culminates in the region of La Gruyère. The charming footpath from Charmey, along the winding shore of the Lac de Montsalvens and through the spectacular Jaun gorge, only opened a few years ago. Rising in the distance is the small medieval town of Gruyères and its castle, one of Switzerland’s most famous sights.
