Route: Schruns (A)-Schlappiner Joch-Davos-Scaletta pass-Pontresina-Bernina pass-Tirano (I)
For centuries, people from the Grisons and Vorarlberg have been enjoying wine produced in Veltlin. Caravans of mules transported it across the Bernina pass, the Scaletta pass and the Sclappinerjoch in the north. Today, Veltlin wine crosses the Alps by other means but the traditional mule trails continue to survive as the ViaValtellina. Whoever cares to take this route will experience the typical alpine culture in three countries and three language regions in all their diversity.
