An autumnal welcome.

800 hectares of vineyards make Lavaux Switzerland's largest wine-producing area.
And a wonderful area for cycling.
St-Saphorin, Dézaley and Epesses – names which roll easily off the tongue of fans of fine wine. And the views from the Lavaux vineyards, set high above Lake Geneva, provide the perfect backdrop for winelovers and cyclists alike. Follow well signposted cycle trails up hill and down dale past sundrenched vineyards and fields, or try out the "Veloland" route 1 along the Rhone river to Lake Geneva.

Here the stunning scenery and the culinary delights and fine wines of the gourmet restaurants and wine producers really are at their best. Or should you prefer, the blue and yellow "Train des Vignes" takes you from Vevey up past the vineyards of Lavaux, before winding its way through picturesque countryside to Puidoux- Chexbres.

Typically Swiss - Cycling in Switzerland

There might be less strenuous ways of exploring Switzerland, but probably none that offer as much of an adventure. The nine interconnected national touring routes of "Cycling in Switzerland" add up to 3,300 kilometres in all, and pass through every region of the country. Conditions are excellent: routes mostly follow surfaced minor roads or dedicated cycle paths, and are clearly signposted. The Rhone route ("Cycling in Switzerland" route 1), for example, covers more than 300 km from the Gotthard region to the vinecovered hillsides above Lake Geneva, and is particularly well suited for families.
