Restaurant Löwenzorn in Basel is the recipient of a special award for conservation and maintenance of a historic restaurant in the Old Town of Basel.The house where the restaurant is located today was built in 1357. The parts of the building dating to the 16th to 18th century, including very valuable interior decoration, have been preserved and are used with care. Items from bygone times are to be found in the cellar and the attic. It is interesting to see how the more recent interiors, dating to the 19th and 20th century, fit in. These more recent interiors appear as independent parts of the property's long history of use as a place of gastronomy and hospitality.
