The Hotel Paxmontana, built in 1896 in art nouveau style, stands on a hilltop in idyllic Flüeli-Ranft, where St. Nicholas of Flüe lived and worked. The hotel with its unique arbour has been gradually restored in keeping with its original appearance, and has 120 guest rooms furnished with great attention to detail.
Special distinction 2002

Distinguished «for the above-average experience value in this historic hotel renovated according to present criteria for the preservation of historic monuments.»

The former sanatorium of Nünalphorn built in 1896 by local hotel pioneer Franz Hess-Michel was so successful from the very beginning, that several parts and floors were added on during the first decade of its existence already. Since 1994, the house has been renovated step by step according to present-day criteria for the preservation of historic monuments. The common rooms on the professionally renovated ground floor offer an above-average experience both in terms of esthetics and historic preservation. The rooms have been tastefully refurbished according to the original models. The overall impression is one of a lovingly cared-for entity. The curved pergola bends to welcome arriving visitors and the outside café invites them to stay for a while.
