Standing on the shore of Lake Geneva and set in four hectares of private grounds, the Beau-Rivage Palace enjoys a stunning view across the water to the Alps. The hotel opened in 1861, and added a second wing in 1908; in the mid 1990s, the Grande Dame was lavishly restored, in close cooperation with the Swiss Heritage Society.
The historic hotel of the year 1999

After just two years of construction work under the direction of Lausanne architects Achille de la Harpe and Jean-Baptiste Bertolini, the Beau-Rivage opened in 1861 in Ouchy. In 1908, Eugène Jost, the architect of the Palace Hotel in Montreux and Caux, together with Louis Bezencenet and Maurice Schnell, added the second building to the west, the Palace Hotel. The whole complex reflects the architectural diversity en vogue from the middle of the 19th century to the early 20th century. During each renovation, the historic substance was preserved as much as possible, while the latest interventions actually reconstructed some of the historic parts, which had been damaged earlier on. The hotel truly celebrates and upholds its past, a fact which is also documented in its internal archives.
