The shepards' festival is a friendship meeting for shepards and farmers. And for all spectators it is fun to watch the unique spectacle of the wooly mass of sheep rolling down from the steep cliffs to the lake, to devour their meal - a mixture of bran and salt.
The aerial cableway Sunnbüel runs on that Sunday from 7 a.m. in order to make is easier for the many visitors to master the demanding ascent from Kandersteg to Sunnbüel. From Sunnbüel the old Roman Road, which is now a well constructed hiking trail, conducts the hiker in the direction of the Gemmi Pass. After about 90 minutes of hiking one reaches the historic mountain hotel Schwarenbach. After resting awhile and enjoying a repast, the shore of Lake Dauben is reached.
Folklore groups of the same region will entertain the public with traditional song and dance.
