Welcome to the Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch, one of the most beautiful and unique regions of Switzerland. Centrally located between Bern and Lucerne, Entlebuch is (in accordance with the Seville criteria) Switzerland's first biosphere reserve and at present the only one.Biosphere reserves are model regions.
In cooperation with the local population, exemplary concepts for the protection, maintenance and long-term development are designed and processed in joint projects.
The Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch represents the pre-alpine moor and karst landscapes in the worldwide network of biospheres. Switzerland's largest and most numerous moor landscapes are to be found within a 400 square km area that has a flora and fauna of national and international importance.
