The Ecological Centre "UomoNatura di Acquacalda" was set up in the nineteen eighties to promote initiatives to make good use of Lucomagno's natural heritage, a fine Alpine environment in the middle of ancient mixed forests of silver firs, larches, mountain pines and cembran pines. The offer of weeks of walking without a rucksack is part of this initiative. Footpaths fan out in all directions and lead to a variety of places of great beauty and great natural interest. Acquacalda was included in the list of the most important landscapes in the country and contains an interesting series of geological outcrops among which majestic dolimitic peaks rear up. The counterpart to the multicoloured vegetation, crossed by streams and fast flowing rivers, is the attraction of an Alpine fauna dominated by the golden eagle. Recently, the UomoNatura received a "Trees for Life" award from the Swiss "Natura e economia" Foundation.
