Constructed in the 14th century, the Chapel Bridge is named after nearby St. Peter's chapel. The paintings that were added in the 17th century illustrate scenes of the City's history. The attached octagonal Water Tower - Lucerne"s trademark - was built around 1300.
In the Old Town, historical, fresco-adorned buildings line picturesque squares on the right bank of the Reuss River. Especially attractive are the Weinmarkt, the Hirschenplatz and the Kornmarkt where the Town Hall is located, as well as the beautifully painted Pfistern guildhall.
