Luzern

Welcome to Lucerne. The medieval city, the lake, the mountains, an unmistakable composition of natural and man-made beauty, time-tested over the centuries and carefully nurtured. Luzern, the lively capital of Central Switzerland, is a city to fall in love with!
Constructed in the 14th century, the Chapel Bridge is named after nearby St. Peter's chapel. The paintings that were added in the 17th century illustrate scenes of the City's history. The attached octagonal Water Tower - Lucerne"s trademark - was built around 1300.
In the Old Town, historical, fresco-adorned buildings line picturesque squares on the right bank of the Reuss River. Especially attractive are the Weinmarkt, the Hirschenplatz and the Kornmarkt where the Town Hall is located, as well as the beautifully painted Pfistern guildhall.
