The founder of Anthroposophy described its objectives as follows: "Anthroposophy is a path of knowledge that would guide what is spiritual in man to the spiritual in the universe".
The word anthroposophy means literally "wisdom of man"; today it signifies "consciousness of man"s humanity".
As center for the worldwide activities of the Anthroposophical Society, the Goetheanum has set itself the task of nurturing a free cultural and spiritual life.
The objectives of the Free University of the Humanities at the Goetheanum is research in the spiritual domain. This implies the founding of a spiritual view of life and a spiritual basis for science, art and religion. Around 120 courses, conferences and congresses take place every year at the Goetheanum.

Location:
Out of the Jura landscape, six miles to the south of Basel, the Goetheanum rises from the Dornach hill.

How to get there:
By train: from Basel SBB direction Laufen to Dornach-Arlesheim and by local bus 66 to the "Goethanum"
By tram: no. 10 fromt Aeschenplatz in Basel to Dornach-Arlesheim und local bus 66 to the "Goetheanum"
By car: motorway Basel- Delémont, exit Reinach-Süd, road sign to Dornach, then road sign Goetheanum
By foot: 10 minutes from train station Dornach-Arlesheim
