Stein is the home of the Appenzell Showcase Cheese Dairy. From a spectator's gallery, the modern process of cheesemaking can be comfortably watched, and for those who would like to taste the Appenzell cheese, there is a restaurant with cheese specialities in the same building.

The imposing Munot Fortress, Schaffhausen's landmark built by its citizens from 1564-1589, towers above the medieval town of Schaffhausen. The view from the battlements over the roofs of the Old Town is fantastic!

The Abbey of St.Gallen figures on the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage.The spirit of the Benedictine Monks is still perceptible in the Abbey Library, which is said to be the most beautiful secular Rococo hall in Switzerland.

Stein am Rhein, a small country town in the county of Schaffhausen, is a medieval gem - charming and calm.The town Hall, the most dominant building in the town square, was built between 1539 and 1542. The square is bordered by houses with painted facades and oriels.
