The permanent exhibition does justice to both highlights by trying to depict the mutually beneficial influences selecting art works of various genres. Therefore, the art works do not stand in isolation but are embedded in historic and artistic surroundings.
The collection has been assembled under topographic and chronological viewpoints. Of worldwide importance are above all wall hangings from the period of :ate Antiquity, works from the European Middle Ages, as well as testimonies to the area of early medieval Silk roads.
