The opening of the Lötschberg base tunnel on 9 December 2007 marks the beginning of a new era for
the Valais, as travel times will be slashed by more than an hour.
The region has so much to offer: gourmet mountain restaurants and a host of winter sports in a dazzling
snowy setting; a charming landscape that is the backdrop for winter walking paths, toboggan runs and
