Halfway between Gruyère and Gstaad at an altitude of 1,000 metres, Château-d'Oex is the principal town of the Pays-d'Enhaut («Up there country») and an ideal destination for all those seeking peace and relaxation through sport.
Pays d'Enhaut Folklore Museum
A wonderful museum with some of the finest examples of traditional Swiss arts and crafts. As well as a collection of traditionally painted furniture, stained glass windows, decorated kitchen utensils, furnishings and tools, the museum also houses a collection of "Scherenschnitte" - the traditional art of cut-out silhouette pictures: www.musee-chateau-doex.ch
