Sils in summer
Time stands still in Sils. Or so it would seem, judging from the prevalent amount of blue in the region. The sky. The lake. The expanse. It has always been like this. And it will also remain thus. However, time surely does pass in Sils, an area where traditions continue to be practised and aren't a relic from a bygone era. Day in, day out, and on into the future. Respect for nature, for the landscape, for the individuality of its people and the area they inhabit - these are the things which count in Sils. Is this possibly why the region emanates so much energy? Because it leaves space? For the eye, the soul? Draw strength in Sils. Movement. Inspiration. Breath in deeply. And then be prepared, re-energised, for the challenges in your everyday life, wherever they might be. Perhaps this is what Nietzsche meant, when he wrote in Sils: Now I am weightless, now I am soaring!
Sils in winter
Sils lies amid an inspiring landscape that ignites in any visitor a strong desire for movement, be it a meditative or romantic walk across the snow-white Val Fex or a cross-country ski tour deep into the endless valley. The Furtschellas Railway connects Sils to an exciting ski terrain, from which skiers may easily reach also the neighboring ski resorts of Corvatsch, Corviglia, Celerina and Samedan. Numerous cultural events, ranging from literature to music and from theater to sculpture, make Sils also Engadine's cultural center. The village has an impressive distinct character embodied in the well-preserved traditional architecture, the classy hotels and the natural warm hospitality of the local inhabitants.
