Grimentz - A village welcomes you!

The sun-browned, wheat-storage barns known locally as 'Raccards' are typical of Valais. Together with the multitude of red geraniums, they represent the picturesque specialities of Grimentz. The Fifteenth Century Burgher's House (maison bourgeoisiale) is at the centre of village life. One can also find wine cellars where oak casks of the Wine of the Glaciers have lain maturing for more than a century. The emblematic charm of this village makes it both authentic and picturesque at its altitude of 1'570 metres.

Grimentz - a picture postcard village
An historical tour through the Old Village will unveil its cellars and lofts, which were used to store reserves of food and many a secret, besides! The balconies are ablaze with geraniums and the old wheat storage-barns known locally as 'Raccards', lend their typical charm to this picture postcard village.
