Winter in Gstaad has something for everybody, both on and off the pistes. And if skiing or snowboarding are not really your thing, then try your hand at our sledge runs or on our ice rinks. Cross-country skiers glide along prepared trails and walkers enjoy our winter walking trails, while those who wish to simply sit back and enjoy life can do so in one of our wellness centres.

Winter sports

62 lifts, cable and mountain railways connect 250 km of pistes, while one of the hottest meeting points for snowboarders is the snow park in Saanenmöser. And that’s not forgetting the 193 km of cross-country trails – classic and skating – through wonderful winter landscapes.

Winter walking and snowshoeing

Come sunshine or snow, winter walking and snowshoeing are good for your health! Our 160 km of fairytale winter paths and marked snowshoe trails are guaranteed to enchant all keen walkers.

Gstaad – a Mt. Olympus for gourmets! With more than 80 restaurants and a huge range of cuisines to choose from, Gstaad is a true mecca for those with a discerning palette. Let us wish you bon appétit!

Children ski for free

This winter, families are especially welcome in the Gstaad Mountain Rides Ski Region and at the resorts of the Lake Geneva Region (Château-d’OEx, Les Diablerets, Les Mosses, Leysin, Rougemont, Villars-Gryon): children up to the age of 9 ski for free, throughout the winter season.

Built in traditional chalet style on a southfacing slope and with wonderful views of the mountains, the Steigenberger Hotel Gstaad- Saanen is in an idyllic location, ca 8 km outside of Gstaad.

Hotel/Rooms:
The 126 charming rooms and 7 suites in this romantic Swiss chalet-style hotel all have a balcony or terrace, the elegance and comfort expected of a Steigenberger hotel, including a seating area, telephone, satellite TV and W-LAN.

Sport and leisure activities and facilities: Sit back and relax in our wellness area with its steam grottos, organic sauna, Finnish sauna, indoor pool and sunbathing lawns.

Kids all inclusive:
We love children, which is why all under 3 years of age stay with us free of charge! Children aged 3 to 12 can stay in their parent’s room for only CHF 45.– per night, whilst their meals, drinks, ski pass, ski equipment and children’s entertainment are all free of charge!
