Switzerland's natural and cultural variety packed into a small area - that's Canton Schwyz.
The landscapes are unique, from the karst rock formations and ancient alpine forests of the Muotathal to the distinctive peaks of the Mythen and the panoramic Rigi, Queen of the Mountains. The high moors and pre-alpine lakes are a perfect setting for hikes and mountain-bike tours, while Hoch-Ybrig, Sattel and Stoos offer snow-sure skiing. There's plenty of history, too, from Switzerland's oldest wooden houses to locations from the celebrated story of Wiliam Tell as well as historic battlefields - not to mention a living tradition of ancient crafts and customs, and world-famous cultural treasures such as the monastery of Einsiedeln.
Stoos – traffic-free resort
The idyllic mountain resort lies between the altitudes of 1,300 m and 1,935 m, offering hiking, mountain-biking, Nordic walking, swimming in the alpine pool – and pure relaxation.
Breathtaking ridge walk
A chairlift ride leads you up to the delightful hike from the Fronalpstock to the delightful hike from the Fronalpstock to the Klingenstock. Along the way you'll see unique alpine flora, as well as enchanting views over Lake Lucerne and the mountains of Central Switzerland. Up on the Fronalpstock there's a summit restaurant, a panoramic ridge tail and the region's highest children's playground.
