Der Schlüssel zum Bürgenstock
The Bürgenstock located above Lake Lucerne benefits from a fantastic panorama and a view of central Switzerland's surrounding mountains and Lake Lucerne. Perfect for anyone in need of relaxation, this oasis of calm far away from the everyday hustle and bustle and traffic noise offers a whole range of excursion, hiking and biking possibilities.
The Bürgenstock Hotels & Resorts with a total of 58 rooms includes the 5-star hotel park (member of Swiss Deluxe Hotels). The Park Hotel was build in 1991 and welcomes guests with a more modern, but just as traditionally Swiss atmosphere. The view over the Lake Lucerne and the mountains is unique. Four restaurants, magnificent panorama terraces, the spa in the Bürgenstock Club with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam bath and fitness room as well as the Golf Club with its alpine 9-hole golf course allow visitors to mix the pleasures of being active and indulging in a little pampering.
The Bürgenstock funicular railway, which was opened in 1888 and completely overhauled in 2002, is the oldest electric funicular railway in Switzerland. The most spectacular combination: arrive by vessel and ascend on the funicular railway whose tracks have been aligned with the gradient of the rock face. The red carriages with lacquered benches are still in their original condition. The horizon widens more and more in less than seven minutes of paradisiacal travelling time. The Bürgenstock is furthermore accessible via a road from Stansstad.
The Bürgenstock offers a great many hiking options. Among the most stunning is the hike to Fürigen above Stansstad with a beautiful panorama view of the lake. Or the rock-face path which was constructed between 1900 and 1905 is a conventional, almost mythical mountain footpath. The rock-face path and the Hammetschwand lift lead to Hammetschwand, the highest point of the Bürgenberg as well as from the city Luceren. The 152-metre-high, freestanding Hammetschwand lift is one of the most bold tourist attractions of the Belle Epoque. It is Europe’s hightest outdoor lift.
